INITIAL DESIGN PHASE
I was commissioned by Veldskoen & Briana Evigan, the co-founder of MoveMe Studios, to design a #socialimpactshoe. A shoe that you would put on when you want to go out & change the world. The brief was very straight forward, a unisex stitch-down construction (one of Veldskoen´s main characteristics) boot. MoveMe also wanted to incorporate the idea of leaving positive messages wherever you walked. The rest was really up to me.
From the start we loved the idea of a mid-calf boot that could be folded down therefore, we focused our energy on other details. I experimented with the iconic Veldskoen Outsole (with a twist) as well as a totally new trekking outsole design. I also played around with logo placement, hardware, stitching & deco stitching as well as print design.
PRINT DESIGN
Knowing that we really loved this idea of the shaft folding down, I thought it was important to have an interesting pattern design for the lining. Using the collections colour palette I played around with several designs but ultimately Briana loved one of my first proposals & it stuck!
