During the Pandemic, Jimmy Choo launched their #ChooSketch competition. To entre was simple. Design your dream shoe. Sandra Choi, the creative director, would then choose her TOP10 favourites. Those 10 designs would then go to the public to vote on Instagram. The 5 designs with the highest votes win. These design would then be made into a capsule collection in 2021 with all the profits going to charity.   

 

There were over 10,000 entries and so you can just imagine my surprise when I received an email from the Jimmy Choo team saying I had made the TOP10! I could not believe it (especially because I nearly didn’t entre).

 

Even though I did not make the Top5 I was blown away by the support I received from both my South African and Portuguese Communities. Everyone shared my story from famous influencers like Carina Caldeira to footwear promoters like APICCAPS, Portuguese Shoes and Academia de Design e Calçado. I was featured on the Comaro Chronicle front page, the GetIt magazine as well as the Portuguese Soul magazine.

 

I am incredible proud to be the only Portuguese-South African to make the TOP10 and hope to continue promoting Made in Portugal footwear.
